Dell to offer Linux as alternative to Windows

Already a few weeks ago we have been hearing this rumor, but ultimately Dell Inc. is considering offering the Linux operating system on their personal computers as an alternative to Microsoft Windows, according to Dell spokesman.

The PC maker said it has received over 100,000 applications for its customers, via a suggestion box posted on the Dell website about three weeks ago.

We are listening to what our customers are saying about Linux and we are taking into consideration

Dell spokesman David Lord.

We are moving, say ... stay with us

Dell has never disclosed how much it charges for Windows pre-installed on their systems, but a basic software update costs $ 99. Include Linux as the default system's computers would significantly reduce the price of them.

The only operating system that Dell includes on their PCs is Windows, with one exception. Dell sells personal systems SPECIFICATIONS latest technology designed for the exploration of oil and gas.

The request to include Linux on PCs sold by Dell has been a petition with more votes since the site was launched on 16 February. The second most popular request was to offer Openoffice, the closest competitor of Microsoft Office programs including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
