Magic The Gathering: Day 1 - The League Guatemala
On Saturday August 4 launched the pre-League Lorwyn Magic in Guatemala City. With a total of 11 players the league was developed for 3 consecutive Saturdays in which each participant had to measure their forces against the other decks.
As the tournament was sanctioned DCI Type 2, the winner of each received Saturday from the shop JIU prizes consisting of a box to save your changes to the illustration of Kamahl, Pit Fighter of Tenth Edition and a box to keep the deck .
Besides the results of each Saturday were cumulative, so in this way at the bottom of the league the player with the best score obtenia secured to pass the pre-release of Lorwyn on October 6.
Three Saturdays, three decks
With the entry of Decima, many decks were unusable, and others should be modified. With the concern of not knowing who was going to be as strong competition, I decided to go to try their luck on the first Saturday of the League.
On deck there was my Slivers Shock, which surprised me dandome several victories against top decks of the Internet. Puente also had the daunting (you know, Dredge and Dread Return), which was not well tested and so felt very slow.
Back in the shop, I found a tour to see who would play the other, you know a goal of the game poll ;-).
Among those I saw had decks,
- Gruul updated Future Sight.
- Kills a library full of completely blue letters 10th.
- Reanimate a Dimir, which steals and drops generally larger creatures (Akromas and Dragons) before returning via Dread Return or using Dawnbringer Reya.
- And a couple of decks (almost identical) mono black discard.
Personally, my fear was extirpate, as it played well against a given letter can kneel to any deck, especially combos. He was there when I thought my chicken guevo said ... if I face against Extirpar can easily end up with the Bridge or the Trolls.
Slivers Shock vs Selesnaya
The truth was not a difficult game, but the creatures had Jacques 3 / 3 against my slivers 1 / 1 things change quickly, because I had more criaturitas damage which hit 10 per shift.
In both rounds I had the table full of slivers, and never came out of God or an IRA.
Slivers Shock vs Gruul
Not begin to describe this as a departure. The pal tries me, was a storm that makes me Magica 2 points of damage to disregard the letter and a goblin who returns to his hand from the cemetery in each maintenance. And I landless.
In the second round, started playing as I could but it was killing me slowly. Finally my slivers are inflated and all earned life andalusia hurt. But this was a pal criaturitas that every time I put a winning life counter them +1 / +1. In short, his hands were tied and I like everything.
Slivers vs Winnie White Shock Troops
I ran lucky because my slivers were leaving one by one without stopping. And my opponent ponia tokens soldier 1 / 1 every turn, and then soldiers 3 / 3, but I could more slivers.
The second game was not so simple, its officers and soldiers filled when he felt confident in attacking and started to hit 15 every turn, and my 4 slivers into play not endured a long time.
In the end, time stayed tied 1-1.
Slivers Shock vs Mono Black Control / Discard
I can tell you, at this stage and had no desire to play. Painted the first game to win, but did not have all that I left empty mental discarding which was a victim.
In the second game I went a land in hand, and the truth and did not want to keep playing like we started. I was easy prey, until the 7th round went the second ground, while I was a victim of extirpate.
Everything is not finished as quickly as had wanted, via the hands of a Korlash, Heir to Blackblade 8 / 8.
At the end of the day, Elias and I were the last and penultimate place, respectively.
